Today I found out something that really pissed me off. AT&T has a monopoly hold on rural areas and will prevent any chance of upward economic movement. We got charged more for internet than what we were promised so we tried to call for a new bundle package and found a good deal in DirectTv. But when we gave our address, they told us that AT&T has us locked into a monopoly that cannot even get a basic bundle package where we are. This is just the perfect example of Corporate America's repression on the poor and keeping them where they are at in life. It is a given that in this day and age you need electronic infastructure and such to get yourself in a position to try and make something better of yourself. Practices like this one only keep one down and can never make something of themselves. So next time I hear a politican complain about welfare, why not give us rural poor a chance to make something of ourselves and kill practices like AT&T has on rural Americans everywhere! Do not use AT&T and change all services that you have that are provided by them. Show that this kind of corporate greed biased to those who can use it for upward mobility will not be tolerated. Write your senators and call them telling them that this is highly illegal and should be banned.
Yeah, it's almost like that where I live. I'm technically both rural and in city limits. Don't like it. Anyway, Time Warner (Road Runner) and AT&T both have a monopoly on my road, meaning I couldn't get internet through Windstream. Are they good? I dunno, but they told me that my road was outside their turf and they didn't want to start a turf war with the big bads. What's worse is that when I went to get AT&T they said they didn't offer internet on my road - not anything faster than 1.5mbps, that is. Anyway, DiSH Network said they had a bundle package and could get me internet on my road. But I honestly don't have the money for TV or internet anyway so I'm not sure I should order anything yet.
