Dear Fox News and all other people suspicious of Occupy Wall Street:
Okay, I see you have genuine concerns about the Occupy Wall Street Movement and I feel as a girl who identifies with the young who have been screwed over, I need to give you the low down on what it is we stand for, since you seem so confused.
We do not want handouts. Unlike the big banks that cry for handouts when they fail to do their homework. All we want is a fair chance to go for the American dream. You see, we are not stupid or naïve or anything like that, even though you like to make us out like that. We are the ones you brought up to go to college get a good job and make a good life for ourselves. You left out some of the details you say we don't know. We don't automatically expect a job to be handed to us as soon as we leave college. We understand that we won't be paid 100K right out the door unless we are one of the brainless celebrities you think we idolize. We don't want to make the world your evil idea of socialism. We just want justice and equality for all, not all who can afford it.
I also have beefs with the putdowns you seem to be doing to all government regulations. I get the feeling when you had to read The Jungle in school, you just Cliff Noted it and got a C-. If you had actually taken the time to read it, you would see Jurgis was doing everything right but still getting a bum rap. Also, some of his family died from poorly regulated food of the time. Look at China, with little to no regulation and see what we have there. Unless, that is what you want to do to the American worker, which as time goes on, I am beginning to think you do want. Hey, Jesus wouldn't like that. I concur that some regulations can be rather annoying, but where does your line stop on your "Unnecessary Regulation" train? Seriously this is reminding me a lot of the 1900's. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it I guess
I wish you would stop holding the Tea Party as flawless. They are not. A guy in Kentucky stomped on a woman who didn't agree with him, and he identified with the Tea Party. Just because their constitutes are often older, right wing types does not mean you can cater to them and not get the rest of us pissed off. They have a lot of the same grievances we do. They don't like the bailouts, but now they are trying to distance themselves from Occupy Wall Street by bashing our ideas, when they have some of the same. That is not the democracy that we are taught to believe in. If they were really the bigger party, they would freaking talk to us, instead of siding with types who care more about fetuses than jobs. (PS if you kill abortion, think of how many people will go on unemployment then.)
I know you will read this and call me misinformed at best and worst call me worse than Hitler for believing in social justice. Whatever, I really do not care anymore what mouthpieces like you think anymore. I just thought it fair to tell you what I, a member of the 99% really think on all this matter. I do believe in saving the whales and legalizing pot too, but I understand at the moment we have bigger fish to fry. You are not helping, even though you guys are in a powerful position to. You sicken me with your hypocrisy.
